Frequently Asked Questions — Amphitheater School Closings

How does Amphitheater Public Schools announce school closings?

Amphi posts closure and delay notices on its official website, amphi.com, and sends them to families through the district's own notification channels. The district does not publish a fixed announcement time that we can cite, so check amphi.com or your Amphi alerts on mornings with severe weather.

Why do Amphitheater schools close?

This page watches National Weather Service alerts for Pima County, such as dust storm, flash flood, extreme heat, severe thunderstorm and winter weather alerts, because any of them can disrupt travel or school operations. Whether a school or district closes, delays or stays open is each district's own decision.

Do local news stations report Amphitheater school closings?

Local news outlets may also report school closures, but this page does not depend on any single station. It checks official district sources and shows one consolidated status. Always confirm with your district.

Does Amphi close individual schools or the whole district?

Either can happen. A closure can apply to all schools in a district or to a single campus. This page shows district-level status, so confirm an individual school's status on amphi.com or with the school directly.

How often is this Amphitheater school closings page updated?

Our monitor checks district feeds, local news sources and NWS alerts about every 10 to 15 minutes, and this page refreshes on its own while it is open. The last-checked time is shown on screen, and you can use "Refresh now" at any time.

What is the difference between a school closing and a school delay in Amphitheater?

A closing means in-person classes are cancelled for the day. A delay means school starts later than normal. An early dismissal means school opens as usual but students are sent home early. This page labels each status separately for every district.
