Government Office & Library Closings Today (March 13, 2026)

📢 Important Service Notices & Alerts

  • USPS Postmarking Delay: A new warning has been issued regarding the “Regional Transportation Optimization” initiative. Mail collected from post offices more than 50 miles from regional hubs may not be postmarked on the same day. Taxpayers and voters are advised to drop off time-sensitive documents at main regional centers to ensure a March 13 postmark.

  • NYC Emergency Order: Pursuant to Emergency Executive Order No. 2.13, certain city facilities used for temporary housing continue to operate under modified rules. While this does not close public offices, it may result in increased security or diverted resources around Humanitarian Response Centers.

  • Sanitation (Philadelphia): Regular curbside collections have resumed, but the city warns that rear-driveway pickups remain suspended in neighborhoods where stubborn ice or debris blocks compactor access. If you have rear-pickup, place your bins at the front curb until further notice.

  • HVAC Maintenance Alert: A national study has flagged that over 11% of public libraries are currently battling failing HVAC systems. Patrons in older city branches (specifically in Baltimore and NYC) may experience fluctuating indoor temperatures or temporary section closures for repairs.
