The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions are currently navigating a “Double Storm” recovery. Following the historic Blizzard of 2026 (Feb 22–24), a second winter storm—bringing an additional 4–8 inches of snow and a significant ice layer—moved through the region on Sunday, March 1, and is lingering into today.

🏛️ State & Federal Offices

Trash and recycling remains the most significantly impacted service due to the “layering” effect of two storms in one week.

📬 United States Postal Service (USPS)

The USPS is reporting “Level 2” service disruptions across the Northeast Corridor.

  • Regional Delivery: Mail delivery is active but significantly delayed in Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island due to unplowed secondary roads and massive snow drifts from the prior week.

  • Post Office Closures: Scattered retail closures reported in rural Maine and Western Pennsylvania where power outages from the Sunday ice storm have not yet been restored.
