School Activities & Events Today: March 21, 2026

If your local high school parking lot is full this morning, there’s a good reason. We have officially hit “Championship Saturday” for several states, while the spring “Arts & Engineering” season is in full swing.

Here is your Saturday pulse for March 21, 2026.

1. 📝 National Testing Update

There is no national SAT or ACT test date today, March 21.

• The Good News: Following last week’s digital SAT, students have a clear weekend to focus on extracurriculars or rest.

• Mark Your Calendars: The next big testing date is the ACT on Saturday, April 11.

2. 🏀 Winter Sports: The Ultimate Championship Saturday

Today is one of the most exciting days in the high school sports calendar as multiple states crown their basketball kings.

• Ohio (OHSAA): The Boys State Basketball Finals are happening today in Columbus! This is a massive event where the “Circle of Champions” is honored.

• Wisconsin (WIAA): The Boys State Basketball Tournament concludes today at the Kohl Center in Madison.

• South Dakota (SDHSAA): It is a “Triple Threat” day with Class AA, A, and B Boys State Tournaments all holding their final games today in Rapid City and Aberdeen.

• Gymnastics: The Big Ten Women’s Gymnastics Championships are being hosted at the University of Illinois today—keep an eye on these athletes, as many were high school stars just a year or two ago!

3. 🤖 Arts & Engineering: Building the Future

• Robotics (FIRST): The FIRST Robotics Appleton District Event is in full gear today! High school teams are competing from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to qualify for the next round of “impact” awards and regional titles.

• Music & Disney Campus: For schools on spring trips, today is a major performance day for Festival Disney in Orlando, where high school bands and choirs are being adjudicated by national music educators.

• Spring Break Kickoff: For many districts (especially in Texas and the Midwest), today marks the first day of Spring Break. School campuses may be quiet for classes, but “Rec League” soccer and baseball practices are taking over the outdoor fields.
