School Activities & Events Today: March 28, 2026

Welcome to the last Saturday of March! For many families, today is the official start of the most anticipated week of the semester: Spring Break. However, for thousands of other students, today is “Game Day” for robotics, drama, and the opening swing of spring sports.

Here is your Saturday school pulse for March 28, 2026.

1. 📝 National Testing Update

There is no national SAT or ACT test date today, March 28.

  • Status: After the busy March 14th SAT window, students have a break from national testing today.

  • Looking Ahead: The next major testing date is the ACT on Saturday, April 11. If you are on Spring Break this week, it is a perfect time for some low-stress practice sessions!

2. ⚾ Spring Sports: The Fields are Open!

While winter sports have crowned their champions, the spring season is now in full swing across the country.

  • Baseball & Softball: Most districts in the South and West have officially begun their regular seasons. Look for “Saturday Doubleheaders” today as teams take advantage of the weekend weather.

  • Track & Field: This is a peak weekend for Outdoor Invitationals. Schools are hosting multi-team meets today where athletes are aiming for early-season qualifying times.

  • Basketball: In the Midwest, some smaller high school divisions are concluding their State Tournament runs today (e.g., Minnesota Boys Basketball State Finals at the Target Center).

3. 🤖 Robotics & Arts: “Week 4” Regionals

Today is one of the most intense days of the year for STEM students.

  • FIRST Robotics: We are in “Week 4” of the competition season. Major regional events are happening today in Iowa, St. Louis, and Minneapolis (10,000 Lakes Regional). These events are free and open to the public—if you want to see incredible engineering, head to your local arena!

  • Drama Sectionals: In states like Illinois and Wisconsin, today is a common date for Drama & Group Interpretation sectionals. Students are competing to advance to the State Finals in April.

4. 🏖️ The Spring Break “Peak”

According to national data, this weekend is the absolute peak for Spring Break 2026.

  • Who is out? Over 30% of U.S. public schools (including major districts in Chicago, Gwinnett County, and Prince William County) begin their break Monday, March 30.

  • Travel Tip: If you are heading to the airport today, school groups and families will make it one of the busiest travel days of the year. Allow extra time!

🗓️ Upcoming Week Preview: March 30th

As we look toward Monday:

  • Spring Break: Millions of students will be away from the classroom this coming week.

  • Normal Schedule: For districts NOT on break, Monday is a standard school day.

  • Daily Monitoring: We will continue our live updates for those still in session starting at 5:00 AM Monday morning.
