School Bus Cancellations Today (February 11, 2026)

For Wednesday, February 11, 2026, school bus cancellations have significantly decreased compared to the previous day as the winter storm that hit the Northeast and Eastern Ontario begins to move out. However, residual effects from the storm and a tragic incident in British Columbia have led to continued disruptions.

Below is the detailed status for major regions:

🇨🇦 Canada: Regional Status

Ontario

Conditions are returning to normal in many areas, but some regions are still clearing snow from Tuesday’s storm.

Ottawa (OSTA): Most buses have resumed service today. However, families should expect minor delays as side streets are still being cleared of the 15 cm of snow that fell yesterday.
Eastern Ontario (STEO): Service has resumed for most routes. Some isolated delays (15–20 minutes) remain for rural routes in the Upper Canada District and Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario.
Durham Region (DSTS): No widespread zone cancellations. As of this morning, roughly 11 individual bus delays were reported due to mechanical issues or traffic.
Toronto/GTA: Schools are Open and buses are running on schedule.

British Columbia

Tumbler Ridge (SD59): All schools (Tumbler Ridge Secondary and Elementary) are Closed for the remainder of the week. This is not due to weather, but following a tragic community shooting.
Peace River South (SD59): All career events at Northern Lights College scheduled for today (Feb 11) are Cancelled.

🇺🇸 USA: Regional Status

Across the U.S., the major “Winter Storm Fern” has largely passed, but some districts in the Mid-Atlantic are still dealing with icy patches.

Maryland

Delays: Several districts that were closed earlier in the week are operating on 2-hour delays today to allow for better visibility and road salt application. This includes Howard County and Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Midwest (Illinois/Indiana)

Resumed: Most districts in Southern Illinois and Indiana that utilized eLearning on Tuesday have returned to in-person learning today with normal bus schedules.

New York City

Operational: All public schools are Open. Yellow school bus service is operating normally, though some “door-to-door” special education routes may experience delays due to local road conditions.
