School Bus Cancellations Today (February 3, 2026)

Widespread winter storms, residual ice, and freezing temperatures continue to disrupt transportation across several regions on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Below are the school bus cancellations and delays for both countries based on current morning reports.

🇨🇦 Canada: Regional Status

While a “Snow Day” forecast was in effect for much of Southern Ontario, most school boards in the GTA have remained open as snowfall totals stayed below the cancellation threshold. However, Atlantic Canada is still recovering from a recent Nor’easter.

Ontario

  • GTA (Toronto, York, Peel, Halton): Buses are RUNNING. Schools are open. No widespread cancellations were triggered by the overnight dusting of snow.

  • Durham Region: No zone-wide cancellations. However, Durham Student Transportation (DSTS) has reported approximately 15–20 individual bus delays due to road conditions.

  • Ottawa: Buses are RUNNING. OSTA reports 0 general cancellations, though individual route delays are possible.

  • Southwestern Ontario: Most districts are operational. Windsor-Essex and London-Middlesex buses are running normally.

Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia & New Brunswick)

  • Strait Regional Centre (SRCE): Closed. High school assessments originally scheduled for Monday have been moved to today, but some rural routes remain cancelled due to icy secondary roads.

  • Halifax (HRCE): Most schools are open, but some “Families of Schools” (rural areas like Musquodoboit) are still facing 2-hour delays for bus pickups to allow for road clearing.

🇺🇸 USA: Regional Status

The Mid-Atlantic and Southeast are dealing with “refreeze” issues where melted snow from Monday turned into black ice overnight.

Virginia (Shenandoah Valley Area)

  • Clarke County Schools: 2-Hour Delay. Buses will run on “Snow Routes” only.

  • Fauquier County Schools: 2-Hour Delay.

  • Frederick County Schools: 2-Hour Delay. Buses on “Snow Emergency Routes” for both morning and afternoon.

  • Loudoun County Schools: Operating on a delay through Friday, Feb 6, due to ongoing ice concerns in rural sectors.

South Carolina (The Midlands)

Many districts have shifted to eLearning to avoid putting buses on icy morning roads:

  • eLearning Days (Schools Closed): Clarendon County, Fairfield County, Kershaw County, Lee County, Newberry County, and Richland District One & Two.

  • 2-Hour Delays: Lexington Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Bus routes will run exactly 2 hours behind schedule.

North Carolina

  • Cumberland County Schools: Remote Instruction. Schools are physically closed; students are working asynchronously due to hazardous road conditions and extreme cold.

Maryland

  • Baltimore Area: Several districts (including Howard and Anne Arundel) have announced 2-hour delays to allow temperatures to rise above freezing before buses start their routes.
