Today, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, is not a US Federal Holiday. Federal holidays for February 2026 concluded with Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 16.

As a result, we are following the Upcoming Deadlines format. However, please note that while it is a standard workday for the federal government, many major school districts remain closed for a week-long mid-winter break.

Upcoming Deadlines (Standard Day)

Immediate Deadlines

Wisconsin Open Enrollment: The regular application window for the 2026-2027 school year is currently open. Parents have until April 30, 2026, but many specialty programs within districts like Milwaukee or Madison have earlier internal priority deadlines this week.
NYC 3-K and Pre-K: Applications for the 2026-2027 school year are officially open. The deadline to submit for priority placement is February 27, 2026.
Philadelphia (PSASD): Lottery results for school selection (2026-2027) are typically released throughout late January and mid-February. Check your parent portal today for status updates.

Testing Windows

Texas (STAAR): The TELPAS (Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System) testing window is currently open (Feb 16 – March 27). This affects English Language Learners in grades K–12.
New York (Regents): While the January Regents exams concluded last month, the June 2026 Regents schedule is now finalized. The first major exam (English Language Arts) is set for June 9, 2026. Teachers are beginning prep cycles this week.
National (NAEP): Selected schools across the country are currently participating in the NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress) window, which runs through late March.
