Today, Wednesday, March 4, 2026, is not a US Federal Holiday. While some states have regional observances (such as Town Meeting Day in Vermont on March 3), the vast majority of U.S. school districts are in a standard instructional week.

Upcoming Deadlines (Standard Day)

Immediate Deadlines

  • NYC 3-K & Pre-K: Enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year just closed last Friday; families should now monitor their MySchools accounts for confirmation of receipt.

  • NYC High Schools: High School offers are officially scheduled to be released tomorrow, Thursday, March 5, 2026.

  • California Online Public Schools: Today, March 4, all submitted enrollment forms will be reviewed to determine if a lottery is required for the 2026-2027 school year.

  • Salt Lake City (UT): The window for Early Open Enrollment is closed; principals are currently in the review phase with a notification deadline of March 15.

Testing Windows

  • Texas (STAAR): The STAAR Alternate 2 preview window opened on March 2. Teachers and administrators are now authorized to preview (but not yet administer) assessments to prepare for the mid-March testing window.

  • National (NAEP): The assessment window for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (Grades 4 and 8) is currently active and will continue through early March.

  • TELPAS: The Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) window is currently open for English Language Learners.

Spring Break 2026 Preview

If you are planning travel, be aware that Houston ISD and many other Texas districts begin their week-long Spring Break this coming Monday, March 9. Most other major districts (like NYC and Philadelphia) will wait until late March or early April to align with the Easter/Passover holidays.
