1. Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, ID): A stationary frontal system continues to dump heavy snow in the Cascades and Northern Intermountain West. Widespread Winter Storm Warnings are in effect.

2. Great Lakes & New England (MI, NY, VT, NH, ME): A clipper system is moving through, bringing heavy snowfall to downwind regions of the Great Lakes this morning before shifting into New England.

3. Northern/Central Plains (MT, ND, SD): A southward-dropping Arctic high is producing a swath of light but disruptive snow and strong northwesterly winds, leading to reduced visibility.

Travel Impact

• Northwest Passes: Travel across the Cascades will be extremely difficult to impossible due to heavy snow and whiteout conditions.

• I-90 / I-94 Corridor: In the Northern Plains and Great Lakes, “Flash Freeze” conditions may occur as temperatures drop behind the cold front, turning wet roads into sheets of ice.

• Southwest High-Speed Commutes: While the heat doesn’t block roads, record highs in the 90s across the Desert Southwest may lead to vehicle overheating and tire blowouts on long-distance desert treks.
