Friday school closings, event cancellations due to Tropical Storm Nicole

As Tropical Storm Nicole approaches, many are prepping for bad weather and keeping an eye on the forecasts.

Several schools in Central Georgia have already sent out notices about procedures during the weather, and whether or not school will be canceled.

Dooly County Schools

Due to the potential for severe weather this Friday, Dooly County School System will have an asynchronous learning day on November 11, 2022. Students, faculty, and staff will not report to schools on 11/11/22.

Current weather trends indicate rough weather Friday morning, but this should clear up in the afternoon. As of now, we plan to travel to Jenkins County for the region playoff game on Friday evening. The spectator bus will leave Dooly County High School at 4:15 pm, so please arrive on time if you are traveling with the school.

Fullington Academy is also closed.

Telfair County Schools

Telfair County Schools will be closed for students on Friday, November 11, 2022. Staff should report at 9:00 a.m. The playoff football game versus ECI is still scheduled for tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. as the models show the weather clearing out by mid-afternoon tomorrow. Students will make up this school day which will be determined at a later date.

Sumter County Schools

All Sumter County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, November 11, 2022. This includes all after-school activities. We will resume normal operations Monday, November 14, 2022

Warner Robins Veterans Day Parade

Due to the threat of severe weather, the parade that was schedule was Friday has been cancelled. The ceremony will still be held at the Wellstone Center on Maple Street in Warner Robins starting at 11 a.m. The Veterans Breakfast will still be held starting at 8:30 a.m.
