District staff of the Bourbon County Schools are getting ready for a new school year, all while working against staffing shortages like many other districts.

This upcoming school year will be a big one for Bourbon County School District Superintendent Dr. Larry Begley, as it’s his first year in the role.

While staffing shortages run rampant, Dr. Begley said his staff has been diligent about taking the initiative to help get more people on board.

“They’re actively seeking quality people to fill these vacancies, and I couldn’t be prouder of them for that because, when it’s all said and done, that’s the best thing that we can do for parents is provide their kid a quality teacher. It’s just too important to sit back and wait on. You just got to go after it in today’s society,” Begley said.

The first day of class for Bourbon County schools is Aug. 8.

Families are encouraged to check the district’s social media pages for important dates throughout the school year.
