School closures, cancellations on First Coast

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As Tropical Storm Idalia approaches the First Coast and potentially becomes a major hurricane, schools, events, businesses, and government services on the First Coast and in surrounding areas may begin to close.

Duval County

Duval County Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This includes all after-school activities.
Christian Heritage Academy will let out at 12 p.m. Tuesday and will be closed Wednesday. Thursday is to be determined.

Wednesday’s trash pickup will be rescheduled to Saturday. All other days remain the same.

Duval County Courthouse and the Duval County Clerk of Court offices will be closed Tuesday through Thursday

Jacksonville Country Day School will be closed Wednesday

Trinity Christian Academy and all school offices will be closed Wednesday. All extra-curricular activities are also canceled.

The Bolles School will be closed on Wednesday. Bolles has also canceled all after-school activities starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday.

The University of North Florida is canceling all classes and Wednesday

St. Johns River College closing at 3 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday

All FSCJ campuses and centers are canceled Tuesday through Wednesday including online classes.

Thrasher Horne closed Tuesday and Wednesday

Christian Heritage Academy closing Tuesday through Wednesday.

The following Catholic schools are closed on Wednesday and “potentially Thursday.”

First Coast YMCA’s before and after-school programming cancelled Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Baker County

No closures have been announced at this time.

Camden County

No closures have been announced at this time.
Coastal Health District will close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday and remain closed until 10 a.m. Thursday.

Flagler County

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton closed on Wednesday and “potentially Thursday.”

St. Johns County

All SJCSD schools and district offices will be closed on Wednesday. Schools and district offices will operate as normal on Tuesday. Scheduled after-school, athletic, and extracurricular activities will be canceled beginning Tuesday, through Wednesday.
Castillo de San Marcos & Fort Matanzas will close on Tuesday.
St. Johns County Council on Aging (COA) has announced that all Sunshine Bus and Paratransit transportation services will be closed on Wednesday
The following Catholic schools are closed on Wednesday and “potentially Thursday.”

Cathedral Early Learning Center; Cathedral Parish School; Palmer Catholic Academy; Palmer Catholic Academy Preschool; San Juan del Rio; St. Joseph Academy; St. Thérèse Early Learning Center
Clay County

Clay County schools are closed Wednesday. Schools are open Tuesday, but there will be no after-school activities.
Annunciation and St. Luke Early Learning Center are closed Wednesday and potentially Thursday.

Nassau County

Nassau County schools closed Tuesday and Wednesday
Nassau County Courthouse will be closed Tuesday through Thursday
St. Clare Early Learning Center and St. Michael
closed on Wednesday and “potentially Thursday.”

Columbia County

Columbia County School District will close Tuesday and Wednesday.
Epiphany closed Wednesday and potentially Thursday

Putnam County

All PCSD schools will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. All extracurricular activities are canceled beginning Tuesday and will likely resume all activities on Friday.

Union County

No closures have been announced at this time.

Glynn County

Glynn County schools will be closed on Wednesday; schools will be dismissed at the normal time on Tuesday; if conditions allow, classes will resume on Thursday.
Coastal Health District will close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday and remain closed until 10 a.m. Thursday.

Ware County

All schools and the central office will be closed Tuesday and expected to resume Thursday.
