Common Closure Types

Superintendents in Southeast Wisconsin typically choose one of three options based on the severity of the weather:

Option Impact on Students
Closed / No Classes Schools are shut down. Typically, this includes the cancellation of all after-school sports and community events.
2-Hour Delay School starts two hours later than normal. Buses will also run two hours behind their usual schedule. Breakfast is often not served on these days.
Virtual Learning Day Physical buildings are closed, but students are expected to log in for remote instruction. This is increasingly common to avoid adding “make-up days” to June.

The Decision-Making Process
